Dear Fellow Students / Lecturers

We are proud to present the UNISUN 2006 conference, which will take place on the campus of University College Utrecht in the Netherlands. UNISUN will be held from the 23rd – 26th of February 2006.

UNISUN is a Model United Nations conference. We offer an international environment, which stimulates debate of high academic standards. Next to that, you will have a unique opportunity to visit the beautiful city of Utrecht.

In the 2005 World Summit Outcome development was acknowledged as one of the “pillars of the United Nations system and the foundations for collective security and well-being” and even “a central goal by itself.” The Millennium Development Goals can only work when the paramount importance of sustainable development is and remains the foremost focus of international thought. Therefore the theme of UNISUN 2006 is development. The conference will feature the following organs and committees of the UN: Security Council, 2nd GA Economic and Financial, 3rd GA Social, Humanitarian and Cultural and the Commission on Sustainable Development. Every committee has an assigned set of topics which will be debated upon. For the list of topics please consult our website: www.ucsa-unisun.nl

We provide the participants with accommodation and full meals throughout the conference. The participation fee amounts to 45€, “all inclusive”. For the application forms please see our website under Participating  Registration and Costs. The list of countries that will be represented at UNISUN can be found under Choosing your Delegation. Moreover, the website contains a forum, where participants can lobby before the conference starts. After participants have been assigned their countries they will receive a set of articles, which are to assist with preparation for the conference. If you are an experienced MUN participant, you can apply to become a Chair of one of the committees. We will expect from you however to have a considerable experience and skills necessary to lead an ordered debate.
